RHINOPLASTY
We make every effort to ensure that the information contained on this site is accurate however; all information is subject to alteration from time to time. The information on this website therefore serves as a guide only to help you and prepare you for your consultation with Mr. Marando, your Cosmetic Surgeon.
A Rhinoplasty or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct the result of an injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.
Rhinoplasty surgery can enhance the appearance and self-confidence, but it won't necessarily change your looks to match your ideal, or cause other people to treat you differently. Before you decide to have plastic surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with Mr.Marando.
The best candidates for rhinoplasty surgery are people who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. If you're physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in your expectations, you may be a good candidate.
Mr.Marando will explain you the procedure in details, advise you and guide you in order to make the right choice.
FACTS ON RHINOPLASTY
Main reason for considering surgery is a desire to change one or more features of the external nasal shape.
The Procedure: Rhinoplasty is a procedure to correct and improve the shape of the nose (reducing or reshaping the dorsum, re modeling the tip, narrowing the bridge). The incisions in a Closed Rhinoplasty are hidden inside the nostrils, in an Open Rhinoplasty. The final effect is a more youthful and fresher appearance.
Length of the Operation: 1 to 2 hours.
Anaesthesia: General anaesthetic
Hospital stay: Day case or overnight stay.
Possible Side Effects: Temporary discomfort, swelling and bruising. Sensitivity to light for first few weeks.
Risks: Every procedure carries some uncertainty and risks. Occasionally the following may occur: infection, bleeding, slight asymmetry in the shape, partial correction.
In the hands of a competent surgeon the risks can be minimized.
Recovery: Back to work: 7 to 10 days. Physical Exercise: Lower body 3 weeks, upper body 4 to 6 weeks. Fading of scars: Weeks to months.
