AN ALTERNATIVE TO GENERAL ANESTHETIC
An increasing number of patients are interested in breast enlargement surgery in England, with no significative geographic difference, from Manchester, Liverpool down to London. Cosmetic surgery is becoming more and more available and patients more demanding.
Normally a breast enlargement with silicone gel implants is performed under general anaesthetic (the patient is asleep), takes in the range of 1 hour and the patient is discharged from the hospital in the following 12 and 24 hours.

In selected patients who specifically request it, Mr. Marando uses local or regional anesthetics to numb the area of the breast to be operated on while his team of experienced Consultant Anesthetists administers a cocktail of medications to relax and make the patient more comfortable during the procedure. Some drift off into a light sleep and appearto be seemingly unconscious, while others can actually have a conversation during the op but awake with no memory of it.
This is called twilight sedation.
ADVANTAGES OF BREAST ENLARGEMENT UNDER TWILIGHT
The advantages of having a breast enlargement with Mr.Marando under twilight sedation involve a much shorter recovery and causes less, if any, nausea or vomiting.
With the appropriate skills, Mr. Marando is able to position the breast silicone gel implant in front or underneath the pectoralis muscle (chest muscle) with a patient comfortably sedated. This is feasible with a perfect collaboration and trust between Mr. Marando and his team of anesthetists.
