Buccal Fat Pad Reduction Surgery

Buccal fat pad removal is a type of facial surgery that targets excess fat that is situated on the cheeks, which when removed gives a more contoured and refined look to your face. This is the perfect solution if you are wondering how to get rid of fat cheeks.

Introduction to Buccal Fat Pad Reduction Surgery

Many people find that even if they lose weight over all, fat can still remain in the face, giving the face a child like or juvenile appearance, this can often lower self esteem and be a real discouragement when trying to lose weight but struggling to lose weight from the facial area.

Mr Marando and his team can discuss further with you whether you are right for this procedure and will tailor the surgery to reflect how you want your face changed. This facial surgery refines and contours the face leaving you with more self confidence to go further in relationships, at work, or just in your daily life with a fresh boost of self esteem.

Who is the best candidate for the Buccal Fat Pad Reduction procedure?

You may be losing weight from other parts of your body, yet still feeling like you carry more weight than you really do because of the appearance of fat cheeks or a chubby face. If this is you, then you are a perfect candidate for ‘buccal fat pad reduction’ to reduce this appearance of fat or chubby face.

The Procedure

The Buccal Fat Pad is a small fat deposit located in the middle of the cheek. Although this fat pad is important for giving a healthy and youthful fullness to the face, it can give excessive roundness and leave you asking: how can I get rid of my chubby face? Cheek reduction, in terms of buccal fat removal, is a great option if this is a question you would ask.

The procedure will also leave no outward scars, which is a great consideration when thinking about this treatment. The operation is generally done under general anaesthetic, however it can be done under local anaesthetic too, but this is something that can be discussed during consultation with Mr Marando.

The surgery will require only staying hospital during the day, although again if you feel an overnight stay would be beneficial then this can be discussed during your consultation. The ‘no outward scar’ aspect of this operation is a really positive consideration. This is achieved by Mr Marando creating a small incision inside the mouth, where the fat can then be gently extracted with surgical instruments and the incision closed with sutures. These may be dissolvable stitches or may be needed to be removed between a week and ten days – this will depend on how large the incision was required to be, and again, will be discussed during your consultation. Risks associated with the surgery are also fairly minimal, and the risks that come with the surgery tend to be the risks that come with any type of surgery. These risks include: infection, bleeding or slight asymmetry in the shape. In the hands of a competent surgeon such as Mr Marando, these risks can be reduced.

Recovery

If you are considering Buccal Fat Pad removal in the UK, then part of ensuring you have optimum recovery is ensuring that you have the best possible surgeon and team; you can do this by choosing Mr Marando and his team at the Star Clinic.

Recovery is relatively short; you will experience initial discomfort and some bruising and swelling, which is to be expected with most surgeries and can be easily controlled with over the counter pain medication such as paracetamol or ibuprofen. However, it is expected that you could be back to work within 3-4 days and as scars are hidden inside your mouth, the fading of scars is not so much of a concern with this surgery. You can also return to exercise that focuses on your lower body in 1 week and upper body exercise in a recommended 3-4 weeks. Mr Marando and his team will also provide you with an aftercare plan and a follow up appointment to make sure that you are healing as you expected and results are also as you expected.
